The Children Went Home
It was an early March Day in Michigan.
Giggles, laughter, and learning could be heard.
Throughout the hallways of the Hebrew school.
In a synagogue north of Detroit.
Darkness and evil filled the air.
As a man tried his best to cause harm and pain in there.
But G-d’s light shone through.
The angels prevented the unthinkable.
And all the children went home.
But that is not the case for all.
Children taken from their homes and schools.
Armed men.
With no soul.
Snatching one after the other.
Symbols of their hate left behind.
A ski cap here. A backpack there.
Those children are not home.
Neither are the ones.
Whom the angels escorted to heaven.
Victims of the horrors of war and disease.
Throughout G-d’s planet.
Those who have decided.
To harm His innocent children.
Will one day answer for their sins.
Where no money.
Fame nor power.
Will save them.
For we are made in the Lord’s shadow.
And His shadow incorporates.
The most wonderful colors and languages.
Shapes and sizes.
Once all of humanity.
Truly takes this to heart.
Then all over the world.
Every child will safely go home.
